Whatever Became Of: Dionne Warwick
Dionne Warwick, born Marie Dionne Warrick, was a pop singer from the 1960's. She was born December 12, 1940 in East Orange, New Jersey. Many of her hits were written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Her first big hit was "Don't Make Me Over", recorded in 1962. She had several more recordings before she scored with the hit "Anyone Who Had A Heart" in 1964. Her first #1 hit was "Walk On By." Soon, other hits followed, including "(Theme From) Valley of the Dolls", "I Say A Little Prayer", "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", "Do You Know The Way To San Jose?" (which won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Performance, Female i 1968) and "Then Came You." She won a total of five Grammy Awards in her career.
