Amber Alert Cancelled for 10-Month Old Pennsylvania Girl

It is with deep regret I inform you that the murdered body of 10-month old Saavni Venna has been found. A family friend is being held on murder and kidnapping charges.

Why Will Some Women Vote For These Idiots?

“This is an issue that opponents of 'life' throw out there to make us look unreasonable. There’s no such exception as life of the mother, and, as far as health of the mother, same thing. With advances in science and technology, health of the mother has become a tool for abortions for any time under any reason.” - Representative Joe Walsh, (R) Illinois

In August, Todd Akin said women have biological defenses ("the female body has ways of shutting the whole thing down") against pregnancies that could result from “legitimate rapes.” - Representative Todd Akin (R) Missouri

"I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is that gift from God, and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen." - Richard Mourdock (R) Indiana Senate Candidate

"I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape. I assume that's part of the counseling that goes on.” - Senator Chuck Winder (R) Idaho

I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created — in the sense of rape — but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you… rape victims should make the best of a bad situation.” - Rick Santorum (R) 2012 Republican Part Presidential Candidate

Paul Ryan, A Very Busy Congressman - NOT!

According to the Library of Congress' THOMAS legislative information source, Rep. Ryan in his Congressional career has been the primary sponsor of two bills that have been passed and enacted as law: a 2000 bill to name a United States Postal Service facility in his hometown of Janesville, Wisconsin, and a 2004 bill to modify the excise taxes on arrows used as archery equipment. (In the former case, the bill did not name a USPS building after Ryan himself, as mentioned in one of the examples reproduced above, but after Les Aspin, a Democratic Congressman who for twenty-two years represented the same Wisconsin district that Ryan currently does.) During his tenure in Congress Rep. Ryan has also sponsored 73 bills that were not passed and signed on as co-sponsor of another 975 bills.

JASON CHAFFETZ TALKS OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF HIS MOUTH

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) acknowledged on  October 10, 2012 that House Republicans had consciously voted to reduce the funds allocated to the State Department for embassy security since winning the majority in 2010. Yet he still tries to bash the President for not beefing up security in Benghazi.

In fiscal year 2011, Republican lawmakers shaved $128 million off of the administration's request for embassy security funding. House Republicans drained off even more funds in fiscal year 2012 -- cutting back on the department's request by $331 million.

Which side of your mouth are you going to talk out of Representative Chaffetz?

Some Halloween Safety Tips From The FDA

  1. Wear costumes made of fire-retardant materials; look for “flame resistant” on the label. If you make your costume, use flame-resistant fabrics such as polyester or nylon.
  2. Wear bright, reflective costumes or add strips of reflective tape so you’ll be more visible; make sure the costumes aren’t so long that you’re in danger of tripping.
  3. Wear makeup and hats rather than masks that can obscure your vision.
  4. Test the makeup you plan to use by putting a small amount on the arm of the person who will be wearing it a couple of days in advance. If a rash, redness, swelling, or other signs of irritation develop where the makeup was applied, that̢۪s a sign of a possible allergy.
  5. Check FDA’s list of color additives to see if makeup additives are FDA approved. If they aren’t approved for their intended use, don’t use it.
  6. Don’t wear decorative contact lenses unless you have seen an eye care professional and gotten a proper lens fitting and instructions for using the lenses.
  7. Don’t eat candy until it has been inspected at home.
  8. Trick-or-treaters should eat a snack before heading out, so they won’t be tempted to nibble on treats that haven’t been inspected.
  9. Tell children not to accept—or eat—anything that isn’t commercially wrapped.
  10. Parents of very young children should remove any choking hazards such as gum, peanuts, hard candies, or small toys.
  11. Inspect commercially wrapped treats for signs of tampering, such as an unusual appearance or discoloration, tiny pinholes, or tears in wrappers. Throw away anything that looks suspicious.
For partygoers and party throwers, FDA recommends the following tips for two seasonal favorites:
  1. Look for the warning label to avoid juice that hasn’t been pasteurized or otherwise processed, especially packaged juice products that may have been made on site. When in doubt, ask! Always ask if you are unsure if a juice product is pasteurized or not. Normally, the juice found in your grocer’s frozen food case, refrigerated section, or on the shelf in boxes, bottles, or cans is pasteurized.
  2. Before bobbing for apples—a favorite Halloween game—reduce the amount of bacteria that might be on apples by thoroughly rinsing them under cool running water. As an added precaution, use a produce brush to remove surface dirt.

U.S. Marshals 15 Most Wanted Fugitive Edward Salas Arrested in Mexico

U.S. Marshals Service 15 Most Wanted fugitive Edward Salas was arrested today in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, Mexico, by the Policia Federal Ministerial in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service.

“Many New Mexico communities will breathe a sigh of relief because fugitive Salas, a child killer, will no longer outrun the justice that is long awaited,” said Conrad E. Candelaria, U.S. Marshal for the District of New Mexico. “On behalf of the Marshals Service I extend heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones impacted by the horrible crime committed by Salas and other accomplices. This is another example of the extraordinary efforts by the Marshals Service, in partnership with many law enforcement agencies efforts to pursue those fugitives who strike at the core of our communities.”

Salas was taken into custody based upon the issuance of a Provisional Arrest Request from the United States, which seeks his extradition to New Mexico. The U.S. Marshals Service worked closely with the Department of Justice Office of International Affairs and the Curry County (NM) District Attorneys Office.

Salas was added to the Marshals 15 Most Wanted fugitive list in December 2011. A convicted child killer, Salas escaped from the Curry County Detention Center in Clovis, New Mexico, in August 2008, and had been on the lam ever since. At the time of his escape, he was serving a life sentence plus 56 years for his role in the murder of 10-year-old Carlos Perez. “

The U.S. Marshals employed every available resource to track down Salas, so we can return him to his prison cell where he will serve the remainder of his sentence,” said David Harlow, Assistant Director for Investigative Operations. “I thank the Mexican authorities for their invaluable cooperation and assistance on bringing this fugitive to justice.”

On Sept. 15, 2005, Salas, along with his brothers Orlando Salas and Demetrio Salas and two other individuals, planned to murder Ruben Perez during the night, reportedly in retaliation for an argument that occurred earlier that day at the Clovis High School. Instead they killed his brother, Carlos, who was sleeping in the same bedroom. The child died just one day before his 11th birthday.

After his escape nearly three years into his prison term, Salas made his way to Friona, Texas, where he stayed under the radar until Nov. 27, 2008, when he was spooked from his hideout by law enforcement activity in the area.

Salas is the second 15 Most Wanted fugitive apprehended in Mexico in the past three months. In July, Vincent Legrend Walters was apprehended in Cancun, Mexico, after being on the Marshals most wanted list for nearly 24 years.

Another international fugitive, Noe Torres, was also arrested in Mexico earlier this year in Mexico. Torres is also charged with the same 2005 murder of 10-year-old Carlos Perez as Salas. In 2005, Torres fled Clovis prior to prosecution and remained on the run for nearly six years. Torres was taken into custody in Chihuahua, Mexico, outside of a religious compound in the first week of January and extradited to the United States in July.
