Whatever became of: The Turtles

The Turtles were a fairy popular band in the 1960's. Their most recognizable hit is "Happy Together", which hit #1 in 1967. Other hits included "Eleanor", "She'd Rather Be With Me"and "It Ain't Me Babe."


The band was formed by Hoard Kaylan and Mark Volman, who later billed themselves as Flo and Eddie. The two attended Westchester High School in Los Angeles. While in high school, the two formed a band called the Crossfires which included Al Nichol, Don Murray, Chuck Portz and Jim Tucker.

A local disc jockey, Reb Foster, the group in 1965. He became their manager and intitially changed their name to the Tyrtles and later to the Turtles. After several personnel and management changes, the group broke up in the late 60's.

Flo and Eddie began touring the oldies circuit in the 1980's as a revamped Turtles. Flo & Eddie also did some radio shows in Los Angeles and New York. They were involved with harmonies in recording sessions for John Lennon, Roger McGuinn, Hoyt Axton, Stephen Stills, Keith Moon, David Cassidy, Alice Cooper, Blondie, Bruce Springsteen, The Knack, Sammy Hagar, Burton Cummings, Paul Kantner, Duran Duran and The Ramones.

Flo and Eddie still do shows as the Turtles.Their 2013 tour schedule is below:
